Avenda adds surgical mapping features to AI prostate cancer platform

Avenda Health introduced Surgery Mode for its Unfold AI prostate cancer mapping platform, adding intraoperative tools for robotic and non-robotic procedures. The features include enlarged 3D views, maps adjusted to the surgical console camera angle, MRI slice review, and capsule risk scores. The company said peer-reviewed research suggests the system could help reduce positive surgical margins.
Avenda Health, a Culver City company founded in 2017, says its Unfold AI combines MRI, biopsy, pathology, and PSA data into a three-dimensional cancer map. The new Surgery Mode brings that map into robotic and non-robotic prostate procedures, adding larger 3D views, console-aligned orientation, MRI slice review, and quadrant-based capsule risk scores.
The company also added workflow tools for patient lists, case filters, insurance verification, and notes. Avenda cites peer-reviewed findings that its mapping approach could halve positive surgical margins and outperformed MRI in judging extraprostatic spread, supporting nerve-sparing decisions.
For prostate cancer patients and their surgeons, intraoperative AI maps could make nerve-sparing decisions more informed and may help reduce repeat procedures or recurrence if the cited margin benefits hold in practice. Care teams may see smoother case coordination, while hospitals weigh training, cost, and reliance on software. Because the evidence remains tied to company-described peer-reviewed research, real-world impact will depend on independent validation, clinician trust, and access.
