‘Clayface’ Leads Pre-Halloween Box Office With $3.5M in Previews

Warner Bros.' DC body-horror film Clayface earned $3.5 million in Thursday previews ahead of its wide release in more than 3,400 North American theaters. The studio expects a domestic opening of $25 million-$30 million and an international debut of $20 million-$25 million for the $44 million production. You Can See Everything expands nationwide, while Wicker and Klara and the Sun also arrive.
Clayface stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, an actor whose disfigurement leads him to seek a scientist played by Naomi Ackie. The Warner Bros. release carries a $44 million budget and opens in over 3,400 North American venues after its $3.5 million Thursday previews.
Among other newcomers, Wicker took $620,000 in previews before a 1,471-theater launch, while Klara and the Sun drew $85,000 ahead of 850 sites. You Can See Everything, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s Elizabeth Holmes documentary, expands to 2,600 locations after reaching $25.6 million domestically.
The weekend’s mix of a DC horror title, a documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, and several specialty releases could shape how studios read audience appetite for riskier mid-budget films. Theater owners may benefit from varied options before Halloween, while fans of comics, documentaries, and literary adaptations could each find something tailored. If Clayface meets projections, it may encourage more unconventional superhero projects; if not, it could reinforce caution around darker, body-horror fare.
