How to Unlock iPhone Duo Without Swiping After Touch ID

The iPhone Duo uses a side-button Touch ID sensor, and by default users must swipe up after fingerprint authentication. Enabling 'Rest Finger to Open' lets the phone unlock immediately when a registered finger rests on the button. The toggle is available under Touch ID & Passcode and Accessibility settings.
The iPhone Duo relies on a fingerprint reader embedded in its side button rather than facial recognition. Normally, a registered finger unlocks the handset but leaves the Lock Screen in place, requiring an upward gesture before the device opens.
A setting called Rest Finger to Open removes that extra gesture. It appears both under Touch ID & Passcode and under Accessibility > Side Button; the first location asks for the device passcode. Apple's explanatory text says the phone opens when a finger is placed on that button, and users can disable the option to restore the swipe step.
This change may mainly affect iPhone Duo owners who unlock their phones frequently, potentially making everyday access slightly faster and reducing one interaction. People with limited hand mobility could find the option useful, though others may prefer the extra swipe as a deliberate step. Because it is a simple toggle, its broader social impact is likely modest, centered on convenience and personal preference rather than major behavioral change.
