Ridley Scott Producing New Alien Film Written by Aaron Guzikowski

Aaron Guzikowski has been hired to write an untitled Alien project for 20th Century Studios and Ridley Scott's production company. The film is separate from Alien: Romulus but linked to Scott's Prometheus and Alien: Covenant through Michael Fassbender's android character, though Fassbender is not currently involved. Scott will produce, and no director has been set.
Guzikowski, whose credits include Prisoners, previously collaborated with Scott on Raised by Wolves; he created that HBO Max science-fiction series, while Scott executive produced and directed its first two episodes. The new Alien project is set up at 20th Century Studios, with Scott producing through Scott Free alongside Michael Pruss. J.R. Young is overseeing it for the studio, and no filmmaker has been attached to direct.
The untitled film is not a follow-up to Alien: Romulus, whose own sequel remains unresolved. Instead, it connects to Prometheus and Alien: Covenant through Michael Fassbender’s android role, though the actor is not presently attached. Guzikowski is also developing other projects, including a Philip K. Dick adaptation and a Death Stranding animated feature.
The announcement may mainly affect Alien fans and franchise-focused media, who could see the series’ mythology re-centered on Scott’s earlier prequel era. It may also influence how 20th Century Studios plans future Alien installments, potentially shaping casting, production timelines, and fan expectations. Because Fassbender and a director are not attached, the project’s practical impact remains speculative and likely limited until further development.
