SpaceNews and RTX to host Nov. 5 webinar on modern satellite operations

SpaceNews and RTX will hold a virtual event on Nov. 5 focused on modernizing satellite mission management for national security. The discussion will cover edge computing, automation, cloud-native architectures, and ways to integrate new tools with existing systems. Speakers will include representatives from RTX, Amazon Web Services, and GXO, with SpaceNews moderating.
The webinar is set for Thursday, Nov. 5, 10–10:45 a.m. ET on Zoom; registrants get a unique join link, and a recording is slated to appear afterward. Panelists are Dave Huber of RTX, Brandon Miller of Amazon Web Services, and Dave Gauthier of GXO, with Mike Gruss of SpaceNews moderating.
The program focuses on national-security satellite operations, covering edge processing, automation, cloud-native design, and modular upgrades that link new tools to legacy systems. RTX sponsors the event; its profile cites more than 180,000 employees, Arlington, Virginia headquarters, and 2025 sales above $88 billion.
The event signals how defense space work may increasingly rely on commercial cloud and edge tools. That could affect military and intelligence personnel who depend on faster satellite data, as well as commercial vendors and taxpayers funding modernization. It may also shape how securely critical space infrastructure is managed, though the discussion itself is unlikely to change policy directly.
