Steam Debuts Personalized Release Calendar For Upcoming Games

Steam has launched a release calendar that filters upcoming and recent games according to a player's habits and similar users. The feature refreshes daily and covers an eight-week window, following earlier Steam Labs testing.
Steam’s calendar grew out of an October 2025 Steam Labs trial, and the finished version adds tools beyond the test build: filters, inclusion of 1.0 launches and downloadable content, plus synchronization across a player’s devices. It draws on sustained playtime and overlapping tastes rather than brief launches, refreshing daily across an eight-week horizon.
Placement is not sold: developers cannot pay to appear, and recommendations come from user-specific signals. The feature arrives amid concern about a flood of low-effort AI-driven releases, and Steam reports stronger click-through rates for calendar suggestions than for its usual discovery surfaces.
For players, a personalized calendar could reduce time spent sifting through storefront noise and may help smaller developers reach audiences whose habits match their games. Because recommendations rely on past play and similar users, however, they may reinforce existing tastes and disadvantage titles outside those patterns. The broader effect could be a storefront experience that feels more manageable, though its social value depends on how transparent and varied the underlying signals remain.
