Hacker Group Demonstrates iPhone Duo Jailbreak Hours After Release

A hacking team called Calif showed an iPhone Duo running iOS 27.1 with modified icons and widgets shortly after launch. The group has not released a public jailbreak tool, though a proof of concept may follow. A researcher said most flaws used in a related iOS 27.0.1 jailbreak are fixed in iOS 27.2.
Calif, a hacking group, showed an iPhone Duo on iOS 27.1 with altered home-screen elements and an anime figure displayed, only hours after the handset became available. Earlier, the team posted footage of an iPhone 18 Pro on iOS 27.0.1 that stayed jailbroken after restarting, with elevated access restored post-reboot.
No public tool has been issued. Researcher Stefan Esser told Heise that ordinary users should not expect one, though a demonstration release might appear. He said the earlier jailbreak relied on flaws Calif has reported or will report to Apple, with most corrected in iOS 27.2; artificial intelligence assisted the work, without further explanation.
The immediate effect may be limited because no public tool is available, so most iPhone Duo owners likely remain unaffected. Still, the demonstration could reassure security researchers that launch-day protections are not absolute and may prompt faster patching. Apple customers, enterprise device managers, and app developers could face renewed questions about device management and security expectations if such techniques spread, though the lack of a released tool may keep practical risk low.
