Crunchbase’s weekly list of the largest U.S. venture rounds placed AI infrastructure and foundational-model companies at the top. Tenstorrent, a Santa Clara-based AI processor and systems developer, raised $1.5 billion in Series E led by Trace Capital and Innovation X, valuing the decade-old company at $6.2 billion. Flapping Airplanes, a year-old San Francisco lab focused on models that are cheaper to train and operate, closed a $1 billion Series A led by Lux Capital and Index Ventures, less than ten months after a $180 million seed round.
Other ranked rounds included ASI’s $325 million Series C, Xona’s $250 million Series D, Pathos AI’s $237 million Series E, and Warhound’s $200 million seed for military working dogs.
The concentration of capital in AI infrastructure and models could shape which tools become widely available and affordable, affecting developers, businesses, and consumers who rely on them. Large rounds for defense, space, biotech, and manufacturing may accelerate products in those sectors, while also raising questions about access, safety, and labor shifts. Workers and communities tied to these technologies may see new opportunities or disruption, depending on how quickly deployments spread and how benefits are shared.
