Intel Shares Have More Than Doubled in 2026; Investors Focus on October 29 Update

Intel shares have gained about 121% since January and closed at $86.96 on October 23. The company will report third-quarter results on October 29 with revenue guidance of $15.8 billion to $16.8 billion. Analysts and investors may pay closer attention to 2027 spending plans, which were a concern after the stock's July decline.
Intel closed at $86.96 on Oct. 23, up 120.8% from early January. Its April 23 report showed $13.58 billion in revenue versus $12.42 billion expected and adjusted EPS of $0.29 versus $0.01; shares jumped 23.60% the next day, their best one-day move in nearly four decades.
After topping $140 in late June, the stock weakened in July. Second-quarter revenue was $16.13 billion against a $14.42 billion consensus, and adjusted EPS was $0.42 versus $0.21 expected. Intel lifted 2026 capital spending to $20 billion from $18 billion and signaled a meaningful 2027 increase; shares fell 7.89% the next day. It later raised $20 billion via a share sale.
Intel’s results and 2027 spending signals could affect more than shareholders. Employees and suppliers may see hiring, factory, and procurement decisions shaped by capital plans, while customers and consumers could feel changes in chip supply and prices. A large share sale and volatile stock may also influence retirement funds and other diversified investors. Because Intel is a major semiconductor firm, its outlook may ripple through regional economies tied to chipmaking, though the actual effects depend on execution and demand.
