Apple's next launch could introduce a touchscreen MacBook Pro

Apple has scheduled a 'Pro and tell' launch event for October 28 in Los Angeles, with the MacBook Pro expected to be the focus. Reports point to a possible first touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, an OLED iPad Mini, and M6 chip updates, while the laptop may stay on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
Apple has scheduled an Oct. 28 event in Los Angeles at 1 p.m. ET, with the MacBook Pro likely taking center stage. Reports suggest the company may finally reveal an OLED touchscreen laptop featuring a Dynamic Island-style cutout and limited macOS touch gestures, not a full tablet-style redesign. The high-end versions are expected to stay on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.
A base MacBook Pro may move to M6 after that chip appeared in the Mac Mini, possibly with a hole-punch camera and higher pricing amid component shortages. The iMac could also get M6 and new colors, while an OLED iPad Mini may cost $100 more and shift from A17 to A20.
The event could affect Apple’s professional and creative customers first, since a touchscreen MacBook Pro may change how designers, editors, and developers interact with laptops. Higher prices and component-driven cost increases may limit adoption, though. The OLED iPad Mini and M6 desktop updates could also influence tablet and all-in-one buyers, while Apple’s choices may push rivals to reconsider touch and display features in premium computers.
