Xiaomi's Latest Electric Vehicle Attracts Over 100,000 Pre-Orders
Xiaomi, the consumer electronics giant, has reportedly received more than 100,000 pre-orders for its new Sky Nomad EV model. The company has made a significant impact in the Chinese EV market with its earlier models.
The Sky Nomad is an extended-range SUV. Reports indicate over 100,000 reservations have been placed. Dealership visits across major Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, confirmed strong interest. One Beijing outlet recorded over 300 deposits, with the seven-seat N90 trim being the most requested.
A separate store reported a weekend surge, logging 4,800 deposits on a single Sunday. Combined reservations for the Beijing-Tianjin region exceeded 30,000. Xiaomi's overall sales goal for the year is 550,000 units, while its existing SU7 and YU7 models currently sell roughly 30,000 units monthly. The new SUV is expected to significantly add to these figures.
The strong pre-order figures could accelerate the adoption of extended-range vehicles, potentially influencing consumer preferences away from purely gasoline-powered cars. This demand may pressure competitors to innovate and lower costs, benefiting broader clean transportation goals.
