Bitters End’s Sayaka Ito on Championing Japanese Indie Cinema Worldwide

Bitters End, the Tokyo-based indie film company founded by Yuji Sadai three decades ago, has expanded into production, distribution, and international sales. Its international chief, Sayaka Ito, discussed the company’s role in bringing arthouse films to Japan and promoting new Japanese filmmakers abroad. This year, Bitters End had two films in Cannes official selection, including Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s competition entry 'All Of A Sudden'.
