Global warming adds 20 humid-heat days per year for 580 million children, research shows

A new study in Science Advances combines climate models and demographic data to estimate that over 40% of children under 10 worldwide experience at least 20 additional humid-heat days annually due to climate change. The research finds that children up to age nine face more extra heat-stress days than any other age group, with the greatest exposure in south Asia and west Africa. The authors say the findings highlight climate justice concerns, as these children have contributed least to historical emissions.
