Venice Premiere: Roma Actress Alina Șerban's Directorial Debut Explores Identity and Belonging

Romanian actress Alina Șerban makes her feature directorial debut with 'I Matter,' a film inspired by her own life as a Roma woman. The story follows Rebeca, a young Roma woman on the cusp of leaving an orphanage, who hopes her father's release from prison will give her the family she never had, while also pursuing acting studies. The film, described as the first by a Roma woman selected for an A-list festival, premieres at the Venice Film Festival on September 8.
