Apple TV+ Sets MacLaren to Helm Marsden-Led Spy Thriller 'Disavowed'

Michelle MacLaren will direct the first two episodes and executive produce the upcoming Apple TV+ series 'Disavowed'. The show, created by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, follows a CIA officer who is fired and then pursues a bounty on an assassin. MacLaren produces alongside Rebecca Hobbs under her overall deal with the streamer.
MacLaren brings extensive television directing experience to the project, having previously helmed episodes of acclaimed series including "The Morning Show" and "Breaking Bad." Her attachment arrives through an overall production deal with Apple TV+, with Rebecca Hobbs also credited as executive producer on the series.
The project unites screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, whose prior feature credits include "Iron Man" and "Uncharted." Marsden portrays Brad Griffin, a CIA officer dismissed mid-operation who then pursues a $15 million federal bounty on the assassin responsible for a colleague's death, operating outside official intelligence channels.
This series could reinforce Apple TV+'s growing catalog of star-driven genre programming, potentially attracting subscribers interested in espionage thrillers. The pairing of proven television talent with blockbuster screenwriters may signal the streamer's continued investment in high-profile action content, though its broader cultural footprint will depend on execution and audience reception.
