The flood struck Saturday along Bright Angel Creek, a heavily used hiking corridor. The 46-year-old victim was recovered near Crystal Rapids on the Colorado River, while more than 60 people required airlift evacuation from the canyon's depths. The deluge destroyed footbridges, widened the creek bed, and altered the river's rapid structure.
