Howard Stern's Radio Show to Debut on HBO Max After Summer Hiatus
Howard Stern will resume his SiriusXM program on Sept. 14, airing new episodes every Monday. A video adaptation of the show will launch on HBO Max on Sept. 17, with fresh installments arriving each Thursday during live cycles. This marks the latest expansion of Stern's media presence, following his previous HBO Max special in 2022.
Stern's reduced broadcast schedule—down from four days weekly in 2006 to two days by late 2024—makes the HBO Max video edition a key avenue for reaching audiences beyond satellite subscribers. The streamer previously aired his two-plus-hour Bruce Springsteen interview special in November 2022, establishing a working relationship that now extends to a recurring series format.
The Sept. 14 return also brings structural changes to SiriusXM's Howard 100 channel, including an expanded "Wrap Up Wednesday" hosted by longtime staffers Gary Dell'Abate and Jon Hein. The SiriusXM app gains "Howard Stern Decades" tabs organizing archival content from the 1980s through the 2010s, while the fate of his secondary channel, Howard 101, remains unconfirmed.
This expansion could reshape how legacy radio personalities maintain relevance in an era of fragmented media consumption. Stern's move to streaming video may attract younger viewers unfamiliar with satellite radio, while longtime fans gain new access points to archival material.
