Sunderland agree £30m fee for Lyon's Fofana
Sunderland have reached an agreement with Lyon for winger Malick Fofana in a deal worth just under £30m. The 21-year-old Belgium international is set to sign a five-year contract after completing a medical. Fofana will join Sunderland as they prepare for their first European campaign in 51 years, having qualified for the Europa League.
The transfer package breaks down as an initial £25.6m payment with a further £4.3m possible through performance-related add-ons. Fofana's arrival follows a failed pursuit by Arsenal, who could not reach an agreement with Lyon despite their interest in the Belgian winger.
