Netflix Expands Podcast Library With New Shows and Renewals
Netflix is broadening its podcast offerings with new original programs featuring comedian Katt Williams, author Harlan Coben, and YouTuber Stephanie Soo, among others. The streaming service is also renewing several of its initial podcast titles, including "Murder with My Husband" and "The Pete Davidson Show," while adding established shows like "The Pivot Podcast." With over 60 podcasts now available, Netflix aims to give members more content across genres like true crime, comedy, and storytelling.
Netflix's podcast expansion includes original programming from comedian Katt Williams, author Harlan Coben, and YouTuber Stephanie Soo, alongside shows from Kaelyn Moore, Meredith Hayden, and the duo of Allison Kuch and Isaac Rochell. The platform is also adding established programs like The Pivot Podcast and OUTLORE with Eleanor Neale to its catalog. Renewals cover initial titles such as "Murder with My Husband," "The Pete Davidson Show," "Shut Up Evan," "The Puzzle Room with David Kwong," and "Allegedly with Ellison Barber."
The streaming service now hosts more than 60 podcasts across genres including true crime, sports, comedy, and food. Brandon Riegg, VP of nonfiction series, frames podcasts as a way for members to access more of the genres and personalities they enjoy. Harlan Coben expressed enthusiasm about creating his first original podcast with Netflix, noting his interest in exploring real-life plot twists through conversations with diverse guests.
This expansion may reshape how audiences discover podcasts, as Netflix's massive subscriber base could funnel new listeners into the medium. Established talent like Coben and Williams may gain additional creative outlets, while the platform's curation could elevate niche shows to wider visibility. However, it may also intensify competition among podcast platforms, potentially affecting independent creators who lack major corporate backing.
