AI Security Startup AIR Raises $50M to Police Agent Add-ons

AIR, an AI security startup founded by former Unit 8200 veterans, has raised $50 million across two seed rounds to monitor the software supply chain for AI agents. Its platform discovers agents running in a company, vets their skills and add-ons, and blocks interactions with unapproved software. The funding was led by Sequoia and Greenoaks, with participation from other investors.

The company closed two seed rounds in quick succession, with Sequoia leading a $10 million first tranche and Greenoaks heading a $40 million follow-on. Founders Saban and Hoffman previously conducted offensive cyber operations for Israel's Unit 8200. AIR's screening process currently rejects roughly 27% of publicly available agent add-ons and skills it evaluates for potential security risks.

AIR reports over 20 customers, with about a quarter being large enterprises. Demand has concentrated in financial services and pharmaceuticals, both heavily regulated sectors. The competitive landscape includes several well-funded rivals: Zenity secured a $125 million Series C in August, while Noma raised a $100 million Series B last year, indicating substantial investor appetite for agent-focused security tools.
