Tehran launches missile and drone attacks on American military installations across the region following a US airstrike that killed civilians at a celebration

Iran's Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for strikes on US bases in Kuwait, Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq, following a US attack on a wedding in Sirik that reportedly killed 11 people, including a child. The US president warned of further retaliation, while Kuwait reported missile fire and a fire at a residential complex. The US has not commented on the wedding strike.

The overnight strikes targeted a residential building in Sirik where a wedding was being held, with the Iranian Red Crescent reporting over 50 wounded by shrapnel. Iran's Fars news agency identified a four-year-old boy among the dead, while the IRGC framed the attack as striking a Sunni couple's celebration, claiming nearly 70 people were hit.

The current escalation traces to Sunday, when US forces struck rocket launchers on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz—the first such strikes on Iran since July—after detecting what Washington described as Iranian plans to lay fresh mines in the critical waterway. Jordan reported intercepting 10 of 13 Iranian ballistic missiles, with three landing in remote areas, though US sources told Reuters and Al Jazeera that Camp Titin sustained no injuries or damage.
