Dyson's Corrale CoolShine straightener cools hair after styling to limit heat damage

Dyson has introduced the Corrale CoolShine straightener, which adds water-filled cooling pipes to its existing heated plates to draw excess heat away from hair during styling. The company says this reduces residual heat exposure, leaving hair smoother and less prone to damage. Alongside it, Dyson also launched the Airsmooth dryer brush featuring redesigned looped bristles to minimize snagging while drying and styling.
The Corrale CoolShine retains the original model's flexing copper plates, which reach temperatures above 400 degrees Fahrenheit while conforming to hair for even heat distribution. Its new cooling system uses water-filled pipes running alongside the plates to pull residual heat away from strands during the styling pass, addressing a common source of damage from prolonged heat exposure. The device is priced at $329.
The companion Airsmooth dryer brush, priced at $249, adapts Dyson's Supersonic drying technology into a brush format. Its teardrop-shaped body promotes volume, while looped bristles collapse under tension to release hair and prevent snagging. An intelligent heat control system adjusts temperature 100 times per second, targeting frizz reduction and heat protection across different hair types.
This launch could shift consumer expectations for hair styling tools, positioning active cooling as a standard feature rather than a premium novelty. People who style hair frequently—particularly those with fragile or chemically treated strands—may benefit most from reduced cumulative heat exposure. However, the premium pricing could limit adoption to higher-income households, potentially widening gaps in access to gentler styling technology. Competitors may respond with similar cooling innovations, accelerating industry-wide improvements in heat damage prevention.
