Broadway Marquee Lights to Dim in Memory of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry
All Broadway theaters will dim their marquee lights on Sept. 8 at 6:45 p.m. ET to honor the late Dolly Parton, Tim Curry, and several other theater community figures. Parton and Curry both passed away on Aug. 25 at age 80. The tribute is part of a quarterly tradition established by the Broadway League.
Parton's Broadway connection extended beyond performing; she co-wrote and lead-produced the upcoming musical *Dolly: A True Original Musical*, slated for December previews, and previously penned the Tony-nominated score for *9 to 5: The Musical* in 2009. Curry's five Broadway credits spanned three decades, from *The Rocky Horror Show* in 1975 through *Spamalot* in 2005, with his Dr. Frank-N-Furter role recently honored onstage by three actors who performed "I'm Going Home" in tribute.
The Broadway League's quarterly dimming tradition, established last year, recognizes theater community figures who have died. The Sept. 8 tribute also honors ten additional individuals, including Glen Hansard, Clive Davis, and Harold Wheeler, with all marquees darkening simultaneously at 6:45 p.m. ET.
