Suno and Believe Strike Deal for AI Training and Distribution
Suno has entered a strategic partnership with French music company Believe. Under the agreement, participating Believe and TuneCore artists can opt in to have their music used to train Suno's upcoming AI models, with revenue sharing. AI-generated songs from those models will also be eligible for distribution through Believe and TuneCore.
This agreement marks Suno's third major music industry partnership, following similar deals with BMG and Warner Music Group. It reverses Believe's earlier April policy that blocked distribution of Suno-generated tracks, with participating artists now receiving a revenue share for their contributions.
The deal arrives amid ongoing legal challenges for Suno, including active copyright suits from Universal and Sony, plus recent actions from Jason Isbell, Gerencia 360, and Round Hill. Believe frames the partnership as a way to ensure responsible innovation benefits its roster.
This partnership could reshape the economic landscape for musicians, offering a voluntary path to monetize AI training while potentially normalizing AI-generated music in mainstream distribution channels. Artists who opt in may gain new revenue streams, but those who decline could face a competitive disadvantage if AI tracks flood the market. The deal may also influence ongoing litigation, as it demonstrates a cooperative alternative to lawsuits, potentially setting a precedent for how the industry navigates AI's role in creative production.
