La Compagnie to launch all-business-class flights between Newark and Dusseldorf
La Compagnie will begin nonstop service from Newark to Dusseldorf on April 23, 2027, using an Airbus A321LR with 76 lie-flat seats. The airline will operate five weekly flights, filling a gap in the market as only limited seasonal service currently exists. Passengers will have access to lounges at both airports.
The new service addresses a significant gap in transatlantic connectivity for Dusseldorf, which previously maintained regular nonstop links to New York via Lufthansa and Eurowings until 2020, and earlier through Air Berlin from JFK. Currently, only Condor offers a brief seasonal connection during September and October.
La Compagnie's expansion adds to its existing Newark network, which already serves Milan, Nice, and Paris. The carrier's 76-seat A321LR configuration provides a premium alternative, with introductory fares starting around $2,428 one-way, slightly above United's comparable Frankfurt pricing.
This route could primarily benefit business travelers in North Rhine-Westphalia who currently face inconvenient connections to New York. It may also pressure legacy carriers to reassess pricing or service on nearby routes, as the all-business model targets a specific high-yield demographic. However, the limited frequency and premium pricing could restrict its broader societal impact, potentially serving only a niche segment of affluent flyers rather than transforming general air travel accessibility.
