U2 unveils 'Carnaval De Luz' album, shares 'Silencio' track
U2 has announced their 16th studio album 'Carnaval De Luz', set for release on November 13. The record marks their first new material in nine years and includes a duet with the late Dolly Parton. The band also released the lead single 'Silencio' today.
The album follows the liturgical calendar, arriving as the first of three related releases that began with the EPs 'Days Of Ash' and 'Easter Lily' earlier this year. Produced by Jacknife Lee, the record spans 12 tracks and includes collaborations with Brian Eno, Martin Garrix, Daniel Lanois, and Ryan Tedder, with the title track featuring Eno's synthesiser work.
'Carnaval De Luz' arrives during the band's 50th anniversary year and marks their first full album of new material since 2017's 'Songs Of Experience'. The lead single 'Silencio' was recorded in Mexico City, with its video directed by Cliqua, Pasqual Gutiérrez, and Raúl "RJ" Sanchez. The Edge noted the record features flat-wound strings, a first for the band.
