GrapheneOS expands beyond Pixel with Motorola Signature 27 as first supported device
GrapheneOS, a privacy-focused Android-based OS, will support the Motorola Signature 27, marking its first non-Pixel device. The confirmation came from the GrapheneOS team on X, and plans for preinstalled software are in the works. The phone's US launch is expected in November, though pricing remains undisclosed.
The Signature 27's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, built on TSMC's 2nm process with a reported 13% performance gain over its predecessor, played a decisive role in enabling GrapheneOS support. The software team noted that the chip's enhanced security features made the partnership viable, while acknowledging that the 2026 Razr Ultra and Razr Fold came close to qualifying but fell short.
GrapheneOS has indicated interest in supporting lower-end devices eventually, though Qualcomm's security feature distribution across its lineup remains a hurdle. Motorola's North American page now lists a November arrival for the Signature 27, but no pricing has been announced, with industry-wide memory costs potentially pushing the flagship toward a premium price point.
