New Seymour and Audrey Announced for Little Shop of Horrors Off-Broadway
T.R. Knight and Hannah Cruz will take over the roles of Seymour and Audrey in the off-Broadway production of 'Little Shop of Horrors' beginning October 27 at the Westside Theatre. They succeed Ethan Slater and Betsy Wolfe, whose final performances are October 25. The musical features a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken.
Knight brings substantial stage experience to the role, having appeared in several Broadway productions including Stranger Things: The First Shadow, It's Only a Play, and Noises Off. His television work spans Grey's Anatomy, The Flight Attendant, and the Genius anthology series.
Cruz arrives with recent Tony recognition for Chess and a Clarence Derwent Award from her Suffs debut. She previously toured as Eliza Hamilton and will appear in Richard Linklater's upcoming Merrily We Roll Along film adaptation. The production, directed by Michael Mayer, has been running at the Westside Theatre since October 2019.
The casting change could draw new audiences to the long-running production, particularly Grey's Anatomy fans curious about Knight's stage work and theatergoers following Cruz's rising career. The transition may sustain ticket sales into the fall season, while the production's continued success could reinforce off-Broadway's viability for established musicals with recognizable talent.
