Samsung Galaxy phones include a diagnostics tool for checking hardware

Samsung Galaxy devices running Android 12 or later offer a Phone diagnostics suite through Settings > Device care or Samsung Members. The tests can check battery, screen, cameras, microphones, speakers, buttons, sensors, connectivity, charging, and fingerprint hardware. Results may include battery ratings such as Normal, Weak, or Bad and troubleshooting suggestions.
Samsung's built-in diagnostic suite is accessible on many Galaxy handsets with Android 12 or newer, either through Settings' Device care area or the Samsung Members app. Depending on model and software, it can evaluate battery, display, cameras, microphones, speakers, buttons, sensors, wireless and cellular connections, charging, SIM, NFC, USB, and fingerprint hardware.
On a Galaxy S26 Ultra, the full checklist reportedly produced 22 items. Battery results may be labeled Normal, Weak, or Bad, with the latter two prompting service advice. The tool checks whether hardware functions, not processor speed, so passing tests does not guarantee day-one performance. Maintenance mode can shield personal data during repairs.
This built-in tool could shift some repair decisions into consumers' hands, helping Galaxy owners distinguish failing hardware from software or network issues before paying for service or replacing a device. It may reduce unnecessary repairs and electronic waste, though it cannot measure everyday speed or connection quality. People with older phones, limited budgets, or less technical confidence could benefit most from clearer battery ratings and guided checks, while repair shops and manufacturers may see different support demands.
