IonQ Secures Three Superion 256 Deals but Shares Barely Move in 2026

IonQ announced three Superion 256 placements between September 21 and September 24 with South Korea's SDT, NVIDIA's Accelerated Quantum Research Center, and Florida International University, none disclosing a dollar value. First customer deliveries are scheduled for 2027, with NVIDIA's installation in 2027 and FIU's in late 2027. Shares closed at $45.48 on September 25, just 1.4% above the 2025 close.
Between September 21 and 24, IonQ disclosed Superion 256 placements with South Korea’s SDT, NVIDIA’s Accelerated Quantum Research Center, and Florida International University. No contract values were released. First customer deliveries are slated for 2027; NVIDIA’s installation is set for 2027, while FIU’s follows late 2027 after its data center is finished.
Despite the announcements, IonQ closed September 25 at $45.48, only 1.4% above its 2025 close of $44.87. The stock had ranged from $28.83 in late March to $53.26 in late June. Its forward enterprise value-to-revenue multiple fell from roughly 85x at end-2025 to 23x, mostly as next-twelve-month revenue estimates rose to about $687 million from about $176 million.
If these placements proceed, researchers at NVIDIA and FIU may gain earlier access to quantum systems, potentially accelerating experiments and workforce training. South Korea’s SDT could deepen regional quantum capabilities. Investors and technology suppliers may see sentiment shaped by delivery timelines and undisclosed pricing. Broader society could benefit from future computing advances, though commercial impact remains uncertain and years away.
