Nordex orders, Galileo permits, and Nala construction mark European renewables progress

Nordex booked 35 turbine orders totaling about 228 MW across parts of Europe, with service terms reaching up to 25 years. Galileo received permits for two Italian battery projects with a combined 250 MW/1,500 MWh capacity. Nala Renewables gave notice to proceed on the 125 MW/250 MWh Vuolijoki battery project in Finland.
Nordex’s latest contracts cover 35 turbines and roughly 228 MW, using N175/6.X, N163/6.X and N149/4.X models. Some units will be configured for cold-weather settings and equipped with an anti-icing feature that Nordex says can cut icing-related output losses by as much as 80%. The orders are distinct from a separate 389 MW Turkish portfolio.
Galileo’s Italian approvals cover a 125 MW/1,000 MWh eight-hour system and a 125 MW/500 MWh four-hour system. The developer expects consent for about 100 MW more soon. Nala’s Vuolijoki project, acquired from Fu-Gen, joins Kauhava and Kärppiö in a 275 MW/550 MWh Finnish storage portfolio.
These developments may strengthen Europe’s ability to integrate variable wind generation by adding battery capacity in Italy and Finland. Grid operators could gain more flexibility, while local communities may see construction activity and employment, alongside possible land-use or visual impacts. Consumers might benefit indirectly if storage helps manage supply and price swings, though outcomes depend on market rules and project execution. The projects also signal continued private investment across manufacturing, development and construction, affecting suppliers and skilled workers.
