Egyptian startup ParlexAI, which develops AI solutions for financial institutions, has joined the sixth cohort of the Visa Africa FinTech Accelerator in Accra, Ghana. The cohort includes 21 fintech companies from nine African countries operating in 24 markets, with firms from Niger, Togo and Seychelles participating for the first time. ParlexAI aims to use the program for mentorship, networking and expansion across African financial markets.
The sixth Visa Africa FinTech Accelerator cohort launched in Accra with 21 companies from nine African nations, reaching 24 markets. For the first time, startups from Niger, Togo and Seychelles are taking part. The group spans stablecoins, agent-led commerce, sustainable finance, payments and financial infrastructure.
ParlexAI builds AI tools for financial institutions to improve customer engagement. Its CEO, Mohamed Mohsen, said selection validates an Egyptian firm working where AI meets fintech. The three-month hybrid program offers online sessions, mentoring, investor access and a Demo Day, targeting Seed to Series A ventures with a working prototype.
ParlexAI’s participation may affect how African financial institutions adopt AI for customer service, collections, fraud detection and process automation. Banks, fintechs and their customers could see more efficient interactions, while founders gain mentoring and investor links. If partnerships expand across markets, smaller firms and underserved users might benefit from faster, more tailored financial services. The actual social impact will depend on implementation, data safeguards and whether these tools reach beyond well-served urban customers.
