What Apple may reveal at its October 13 smart home event

Apple has scheduled a "Welcome Home" event for October 13, where it is expected to focus on smart home hardware. Rumored products include refreshed Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini models with chips that enable Apple Intelligence, plus a new home hub. The hub, sometimes called HomePad, is said to have a 6-inch square touchscreen, a HomePod-like speaker, camera-based user recognition, FaceTime support, and a new homeOS.
Apple has set an Oct. 13 “Welcome Home” event, signaling a smart-home push. Reports point to a new home hub, possibly called HomePad, with a square 6-inch display, speaker, AC power, camera-based recognition, FaceTime, and a fresh homeOS. Refreshed Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini are also expected.
The HomePod mini, six years old, may gain new colors, audio tweaks, and a faster S-series chip, finally bringing Siri AI. The Apple TV 4K could move from its 2022 A15/4GB setup to an A19 or A19 Pro with 8GB or 12GB, enabling Siri AI on TV.
A dedicated home hub could make household coordination, video calls, and shared displays more accessible, especially for families and older users. Camera-based recognition may raise privacy concerns, so adoption could depend on trust and clear controls. Faster Apple TV and HomePod mini models may extend AI voice assistance to more living rooms, potentially shifting everyday routines and competition among smart-home platforms.
