Paramount starts developing a movie based on Cyberpunk 2077
Paramount and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura have started developing a film based on Cyberpunk 2077, according to Deadline. The game centers on mercenary V, who becomes host to the consciousness of Johnny Silverhand after a botched heist. Although its 2020 release was plagued by bugs and refund demands, the title eventually sold more than 40 million copies and spawned the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Paramount has brought on producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, whose credits include Transformers, to start work on a Cyberpunk 2077 film, according to Deadline. The project joins the studio's other game-based efforts, such as a Call of Duty movie in development and a Street Fighter film awaiting release.
The game follows V, a Night City mercenary, after a botched theft of the Relic biochip leaves it inside his head. Johnny Silverhand, a terrorist with rock-star status portrayed by Keanu Reeves, shares V's mind and drives him toward Arasaka. After a rough 2020 debut, updates and an expansion helped the title exceed 40 million sales
