Akash Ambani Says Jio Will Keep Affordability Central at IMC 2026

At India Mobile Congress 2026, Akash Ambani said Jio will continue to prioritize affordable, high-quality services. He positioned the company as an end-to-end technology creator rather than only a buyer of technology. Jio also showcased its indigenous satellite stack at the event.
At India Mobile Congress 2026, Jio Platforms MD and Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani reiterated that affordability and service quality remain central. His comments followed Bharti Airtel's postpaid tariff revision, which raised plans by Rs 50, a 3–11% increase, effective October 8, 2026, with existing users migrated to higher plans within a month.
Jio also presented an indigenous satellite stack, described as an end-to-end data system supporting 5G use cases and future services. The company is building a low-Earth orbit constellation of over 1,600 satellites backed by 23 ground stations, extending its role beyond technology purchasing toward technology creation.
Jio's affordability pledge could affect millions of Indian mobile users, especially price-sensitive subscribers, by keeping service costs competitive amid tariff changes. Its satellite and 5G efforts may expand connectivity in underserved areas and support new services, though benefits depend on rollout, pricing, and adoption. Rivals may face pressure to match value.
