Jio Unveils 6G NR Gigantic MIMO Radio at IMC 2026

Reliance Jio displayed a 6G New Radio Gigantic MIMO radio unit at India Mobile Congress 2026. The company also presented artificial intelligence and consumer-focused innovations. Jio expects 6G to support new applications such as immersive experiences and industrial use cases while advancing India's patent goals.
At IMC 2026 in Yashobhoomi, Reliance Jio presented a 6G New Radio Gigantic MIMO radio unit, described as India’s first such radio. The operator also showed AI and consumer-facing developments. Jio says it has filed hundreds of 6G patents and made more than 934 technical submissions to international standards groups working on 6G.
Jio Platforms chairman Akash Ambani said India aims for a tenth of 6G patents, with Jio intending to contribute strongly; it has already filed pre-6G patents. Jio expects 6G to enable Internet of Nano Things and Internet of Bio-Nano Things, plus immersive and industrial revenue opportunities. It has also built its own 5G radio and solution suite.
If 6G moves from showcase to deployment, Indian consumers could gain richer immersive services, while manufacturers, logistics, healthcare and research sectors may find new connected applications. Telecom equipment makers and standards contributors could benefit from India’s push for patent share. However, benefits depend on commercial rollout, affordability, and ecosystem readiness, so near-term effects may remain limited to trials and demonstrations. Policymakers, operators, and technology firms may face pressure to ensure inclusive access and security as networks evolve.
