Airtel Raises Postpaid Prices by Rs 50, Adds Roaming Benefit

Bharti Airtel has increased its postpaid tariffs by Rs 50 across all plans. The move is intended to lift average revenue per user, and Airtel recently added an annual free international roaming benefit for postpaid customers. The company also removed one postpaid plan.
Airtel, India's second-largest telecom operator, has raised every postpaid plan by Rs 50. The move is intended to improve average revenue per user. It recently began including one free international roaming allowance per SIM each year for postpaid customers.
The Rs 549 plan has been discontinued. Postpaid service now begins at Rs 499 monthly. Previously available tiers were Rs 449, Rs 549, Rs 699, Rs 999, Rs 1199, Rs 1399 and Rs 1749; the revised lineup is Rs 499, Rs 749, Rs 1249, Rs 1449 and Rs 1799.
Postpaid subscribers, especially frequent international travelers, may see greater value from bundled roaming, potentially offsetting higher monthly bills. Others may face a modest cost increase or switch to lower-cost prepaid options. Airtel could strengthen loyalty among premium users and lift revenue, while competitors may feel pressure to adjust their own postpaid offers. Overall impact on broader society likely limited because postpaid remains a smaller, relatively affluent segment.
