Apple-Linked Shell Company Reportedly Filed 'HomeView' Trademark as Home Hub Launch Nears

Apple may have used a shell company called Home Services LLC to file a 'HomeView' trademark in the U.S. and other countries last year. A separate possible Apple-linked shell company filed for 'homeOS' around the same time. Apple is expected to introduce a new smart home hub at its October 13 'Welcome home' event, though final product and OS names remain unconfirmed.
The HomeView filing was reportedly made by Home Services LLC in the U.S. and several other countries last year. Around the same period, Home Operations Suite LLC, another entity possibly tied to Apple, sought a homeOS trademark. Apple is expected to announce a new smart home hub at its October 13 "Welcome home" event, but neither final product nor OS name is confirmed.
Apple has previously used shell companies for unannounced products. A connected entity filed visionOS before the 2023 Vision Pro launch, while an xrOS mark was later dropped. Trademark filings therefore do not guarantee final branding. Other guessed names include HomePad, Apple Home, and HomePod Pro.
If Apple releases a home hub, households already using Apple devices may see tighter integration among lights, locks, cameras, and entertainment. Developers could gain another platform for home-focused apps, while rival smart-home makers may face pressure to support Apple's ecosystem. Consumers might benefit from simpler setup, but they could also become more dependent on one vendor's services and compatibility choices. The actual effect will depend on pricing, privacy safeguards, and whether the device works with non-Apple products.
