Blumhouse Taps MatPat to Develop ‘Amanda the Adventurer’ Movie

Blumhouse has announced it is turning the 2023 indie puzzle game Amanda the Adventurer into a movie. Matthew “MatPat” Patrick is developing the project, with Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald producing. The game follows Riley Park as they investigate a disturbing mystery tied to a children’s show and a videotape found in their late aunt’s attic.
Blumhouse revealed on Friday that it will adapt Amanda the Adventurer, a 2023 indie puzzle title released by DreadXP. Jason Blum shared the news, naming Matthew “MatPat” Patrick—known as a BlumFest moderator—as developer of the film. Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald will produce.
The source game centers on Riley Park, who looks into a troubling mystery connected to a children’s program called Amanda the Adventurer. The investigation begins after Riley finds a strange videotape in the attic of their deceased aunt Kate.
The announcement could draw MatPat’s large online following and indie horror fans toward the film, while Blumhouse’s brand may introduce the game to broader moviegoers. If successful, it may encourage more adaptations of small horror titles, though audience expectations around fidelity and tone could shape reception.
