Egypt Housing Ministry Reviews Projects and Land Allocations

Egypt's Ministry of Housing and Urban Communities has reviewed its activities from October 2 to 8, 2026, covering development projects in New Alamein and Upper Egypt as well as sanitation work under the presidential Decent Life initiative. Minister Randa El-Menshawy stressed adherence to schedules and quality while following up on infrastructure, housing, and road improvements. The ministry also approved new allocations of tourism and industrial land and expanded urban and tourism cooperation with Oman.
Between Oct. 2 and 8, 2026, the ministry tracked work in New Alamein and several Upper Egyptian new cities, including roads, utilities, housing zones, and service projects. It also reviewed sanitation schemes under the presidential Decent Life initiative in Assiut, Minya, Damietta, and Aswan, run by the national water and sanitation authority.
Separately, auctions allocated 11 small industrial workshops in 10th of Ramadan, each 702 sq m, worth over EGP 195 million, plus commercial and administrative units there and in New Minya. Sixteen final tourism land allocations near south Magawish, south of Hurghada, covered almost 1 million sq m. The ministry also pursued Oman urban-tourism cooperation and housing for relocated state employees.
The moves could affect residents and investors in New Alamein, Upper Egypt, and Red Sea tourism zones, as well as villagers awaiting sanitation links. Faster infrastructure and land allocations may support jobs, housing, and services, while delays or quality gaps could limit benefits. Industrial and tourism awards may draw private activity, but actual social gains may depend on timely completion, affordability, and local hiring.
