Magic: The Gathering will introduce God Packs beginning with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, which has prerelease on January 29, 2027, and a full launch on February 5, 2027. Regular boosters will have 1-in-1,000 odds, while collector boosters use a different ratio. The feature is expected to continue in future Magic sets, including Universes Beyond releases.
Wizards of the Coast has outlined God Packs as a new booster possibility starting with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm. Prerelease begins January 29, 2027, with the wider release on February 5, 2027. The feature is expected to appear in later in-universe and Universes Beyond sets unless stated otherwise.
Regular boosters carry 1-in-1,000 God Pack odds, while collector boosters are 1-in-300. Regular versions include a celebration card, ten nonfoil rares/mythics, two nonfoil booster fun rares/mythics, and two traditional foil booster fun rares/mythics. Collector versions swap in a foil land and different foil/nonfoil distributions. Booster prices stay the same, but some foil slots and common/uncommon foil chances are being removed.
The change may affect Magic players, collectors, and local game stores most directly. Chasing low-probability God Packs could encourage extra booster purchases, potentially influencing secondary-market prices for the cards inside. Some players may enjoy the excitement, while others could feel frustrated by added randomness or reduced foil availability in standard boosters. Retailers might see short-term sales spikes around new set launches, though long-term reactions may depend on how rewarding the packs feel and whether future sets keep the same structure.
