Hamilton Updates Its Interstellar Murph Watch With a Blue Gradient Dial

Hamilton has introduced a 38mm Khaki Field Murph variant with a dial that shifts from blue to black. It keeps the H-10 automatic movement, an 80-hour power reserve, a stainless-steel case, cathedral-shaped hands, and Arabic numerals. The design is inspired by an interstellar comet, with a textured dial and Super-LumiNova, priced at CHF 870.
Hamilton first produced the Murph for Interstellar’s production, then released a commercial 42mm black-dial model in 2019. A smaller 38mm version arrived in 2022. The new H70405740 keeps that compact case but changes the dial to a blue-to-black gradient, inspired by an interstellar comet and glowing ionized gas.
It retains the H-10 automatic movement, an 80-hour power reserve, stainless steel, cathedral hands, domed Arabic numerals, a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, Super-LumiNova, and a black leather strap. Pricing is CHF 870.
This release could mainly affect watch enthusiasts, Interstellar fans, and shoppers seeking a compact Swiss automatic. The film connection may strengthen emotional appeal, while the gradient dial could attract buyers wanting a familiar field watch with a fresh look. It may also encourage other brands to experiment with textured, color-shifting dials. Because the price and mechanical-watch focus keep it niche, its broader societal impact is likely limited, though it could influence style trends and purchasing decisions within hobbyist communities.
