Reliance Jio unveiled its Jio AI Glasses at India Mobile Congress 2026. Jio positions the device as a consumer product meant to simplify everyday tasks.
Reliance Jio introduced its AI Glasses at India Mobile Congress 2026, presenting them as everyday consumer wearables. The device is said to support UPI payments by recognizing a QR code and accepting a spoken instruction, alongside an AI voice assistant and several Indian languages. It also offers live translation, AI note-taking, and cricket commentary while users are on the move.
Payment capability follows UPI Circle limits: up to Rs 5,000 per transaction and Rs 15,000 monthly. The glasses are being displayed at the Yashobhoomi Convention Center in Dwarka, where visitors can view them. Jio frames the product around convenience for routine tasks.
If such glasses become widely used, they may make digital payments and cross-language communication more hands-free for Indian consumers, including people who find smartphones cumbersome. Small merchants could see another payment route, while users may weigh privacy, safety, and dependence on voice commands. The device's success could depend on affordability, language accuracy, and trust in wearable transactions.
