Paper Girls Duo Announce New Image Series Roam at NYCC

Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang, the creators behind Paper Girls, are reuniting for a new Image Comics series called Roam. The first issue is set for February 2027 and will be 50 pages, with Matt Wilson and Jared Fletcher joining the creative team. The project was announced during New York Comic Con 2026.
Roam was revealed during New York Comic Con 2026 as an IGN exclusive. It marks Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang’s first collaboration since Paper Girls and their first new ongoing series together in more than ten years. The debut issue arrives in February 2027 and runs 50 pages.
The creative team also includes colorist Matt Wilson and letterer Jared Fletcher. Chiang has already drawn several early issues. The story is set in a future where people have superpowers only while young, following a journey through adulthood’s opportunities and dangers as characters seek their own group.
The announcement could energize existing fans of Paper Girls and the creators, potentially lifting preorders at comic shops and attention around Image Comics. If Roam connects, it may draw new readers toward serialized comics and spark broader reflection on growing up, belonging, and the limits of youthful power. Retailers and the creative team may benefit from the early buzz, though its actual cultural reach may depend on execution and reader response.
