Tinashe Joins Charli XCX Onstage at Austin City Limits
Charli xcx brought Tinashe out during her Austin City Limits headlining set at Zilker Park on Oct. 9. They performed two songs from Tinashe's Popstar, including the live debut of "Nobody Wanna Dance Anymore" and "Melatonin." Tinashe's album debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, her highest chart placement to date.
Charli xcx's Zilker Park headline set on Oct. 9 included a guest turn from Tinashe. The pair delivered two Popstar cuts: the first live airing of "Nobody Wanna Dance Anymore" and "Melatonin." Tinashe had hinted at the appearance that day by posting an Instagram Stories clip of the two dancing backstage to their 2015 Ty Dolla $ign team-up, "Drop That Kitty."
Popstar reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200, Tinashe's best chart position and first top-10 entry. Her earlier albums peaked lower: Aquarius at No. 17, Nightride at No. 89, Joyride at No. 58 and Quantum Baby at No. 199. Charli and Tinashe had also linked in 2024 for a "B2B" remix.
The onstage pairing may extend Popstar's momentum beyond Tinashe's existing audience, potentially drawing new listeners through Charli xcx's festival crowd. It could also reinforce ACL's reputation for surprise collaborations and give fans a memorable shared moment. For Tinashe, the exposure may support streaming, touring interest, and broader pop/R&B visibility; for Charli, it may further position her live shows as collaborative, era-spanning events. Its impact may remain cultural and commercial rather than broadly societal.
