Lagos New Year's Mainland Block Party Set for January 1, 2027

The Mainland Block Party will return to Lagos on January 1, 2027, running from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time. Earlybird tickets start at about US$6, with higher tiers up to about US$2,250 for group sections. The exact venue and headliner have not yet been announced.
The event traces back to 2018, when Asa Asika and Bizzle Osikoya, founders of Plug NG, started it in Ikeja. The mainland lies inland, across the lagoon from Victoria Island and Ikoyi. Recent New Year’s editions used “Mission” branding and featured Adekunle Gold, Seyi Vibez, and Olamide.
The series has also staged shows in Abuja, Accra, London, and New York; ODUMODUBLVCK headlined a 2025 New York edition with OkayAfrica. Tickets range from earlybird at ₦7,500 to Legend at ₦50,000, with group sections up to ₦3 million. US travelers need a Nigerian visa, six months’ passport validity, and yellow fever and polio certificates.
The return could boost Lagos mainland hospitality, transport, and vendors around the New Year period, while giving local music fans and visiting expats a major entertainment option. It may also intensify late-night traffic, noise, and security demands in Ikeja, affecting residents and workers. Because venue and headliner remain unannounced, the scale of those effects is still uncertain.
