Forbes Middle East’s 2026 ranking of the region’s 50 strongest fintech firms placed Egypt’s Sahl at No. 37. Ten Egyptian companies appeared on the list. Sahl operates in digital payments and mobile bill settlement, and has entered the UAE market as part of regional growth.
Since launch, Sahl has handled more than one billion transactions and its platform reaches over 30 million Egyptian households. Its app has surpassed 10 million downloads, and partner networks support more than 500,000 point-of-sale locations. Users can manage payments for utilities, telecom, water, gas, education, donations, and recurring obligations.
The recognition may strengthen confidence in Egypt’s digital payments sector, potentially encouraging more households and merchants to use mobile bill payment tools. For users, easier access to recurring payments and utility bills could save time and reduce queues, though benefits may depend on smartphone access, digital literacy, and reliable connectivity. Expanded regional operations could create partnerships and jobs, while also raising expectations around data protection and service reliability.
