Yandex data center in Vladimir Oblast goes offline after reported drone strike

A Yandex data center in Russia's Vladimir Oblast was fully shut down after a reported drone attack, according to Russian state media citing the company. The incident followed strikes on Yandex facilities in Ryazan and Kaluga oblasts on Oct. 8 and 9. Power disruptions affected Yandex Cloud and services such as Yandex Go in Russia and several other countries.
The Vladimir facility's shutdown followed a reported drone attack and came after Yandex Cloud flagged outages in its ru-central1-a zone. It followed acknowledged strikes on Yandex data centers in Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast, on Oct. 8 and in Kaluga on Oct. 9.
Users in Russia and several nearby countries reportedly could not order taxis through Yandex Go; driver/courier app Yandex Pro, internal support tools, and connected-home features also faced problems. Ukrainian monitoring channels shared unverified images of a possible fire. Yandex later added drone and missile attacks to force majeure terms.
The outages could disrupt daily routines for people relying on Yandex Go for transport and deliveries, while drivers and couriers may lose income during downtime. Businesses using Yandex Cloud may face service interruptions or seek backups. Repeated strikes on data centers could heighten concerns about digital resilience in Russia and neighboring markets, though the full extent of damage remains unverified.
