AI and legal tech startups raise millions in India funding
NYAI, an AI-native legal infrastructure startup, raised $1.5 million in seed funding from Indian family offices, while Profound, launched by former Swiggy and Zomato executives, secured $1.5 million from a consortium including high-profile entrepreneurs and venture firms. Enterprise AI CRM platform Superleap also raised Rs 36 crore in pre-Series A funding from Peak XV's Surge.
Profound's seed round drew backing from prominent tech leaders, including Swiggy's CEO and co-founder, Zomato's former co-founder, Razorpay's CEO, and WhatsApp's global head, alongside venture firms Stellaris and 3one4. The founders aim to use the funds to grow their engineering and product teams while accelerating their AI-driven matching and introductions engine.
NYAI's funding will support expanding its proprietary repository of Indian legal and regulatory materials and enhance its AI layer. The startup plans to develop a compliance module into a unified obligation-management dashboard for enterprises and law firms. Separately, Superleap secured Rs 36 crore from Peak XV's Surge for its enterprise AI CRM platform.
This wave of funding could accelerate the adoption of AI in core business and legal functions across India. For enterprises and law firms, NYAI's compliance tools may reduce manual regulatory burdens and improve risk management. Profound's matching engine could streamline professional networking and hiring, potentially altering how talent connects with opportunities. Meanwhile, Superleap's CRM may enhance sales efficiency for mid-sized firms. However, increased reliance on AI agents also raises questions about data privacy and job displacement in administrative roles.
