Fremantle to Bring Singapore Dating Show 'Wingman' to International Buyers

Fremantle has signed an exclusive agreement with Singapore broadcaster Mediacorp for the dating format 'Wingman.' The show has singles let close friends make their romantic decisions. Fremantle will oversee international sales, licensing, and production in most territories, while Mediacorp keeps rights in Singapore and some Asian markets.
Fremantle will represent “Wingman” internationally after reaching an exclusive pact with Singapore’s Mediacorp. The format, co-owned by Mediacorp and Beach House Pictures, follows singles who let their nearest friends guide or determine their dating choices. Fremantle is introducing it to overseas buyers at Mipcom.
Under the deal, Fremantle oversees licensing, sales and production in most markets beyond Singapore. Mediacorp retains the format at home and in selected Asian territories. This split lets the Singaporean broadcaster keep regional control while Fremantle pursues broader international expansion.
The global spread of a friend-led dating format could influence how viewers think about romance and privacy, especially younger audiences who consume reality TV. It may also create opportunities for local producers and participants in new markets, while raising questions about how much say friends should have in intimate decisions. Whether these effects are positive or negative may depend on how each adaptation handles consent and representation.
